Franco-Algerian winger Ryan Cherki has opened up on his failed move to Premier League outfit Fulham last summer.
Cherki, who plies his trade for Olympique Lyon was set to enter the final year of his contract, prompting the club cash in on the winger to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Paris Saint-Germain had agreed a deal with their Ligue 1 compatriots but could not convince Cherki to secure his services.
Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, managed to convince the player but could not agree a deal with the club.
Lyon placed Cherki in the “loft” as they tried to force through a transfer last summer.
However, as transfer deadline day came and went with a bid from Fulham accepted by Lyon but rejected by the player, Cherki remained at his formative club. It would take him signing a contract extension before Lyon took him out of the “loft” and reinserted him back into the matchday squad.
Meanwhile, the enterprising winger is set for a summer departure despite having a running contract following an impressive campaign.
