Emam Ashour moves to mend rift with Egypt coach Hossam Hassan
After a triumphant league win, Al Ahly star Emam Ashour has taken a big step toward patching things up with Egypt’s national team coach Hossam Hassan.
Ashour, who starred in Al Ahly’s 6–0 victory over Pharco to seal their 45th league title, used Instagram to share his joy and hint at reconciliation. In his message, he celebrated the title, thanked fans, and expressed his readiness for the FIFA Club World Cup. Crucially, he ended by publicly showing respect for the Egyptian national team’s technical staff, led by Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan, saying he’s always ready to serve the national team.
According to sources, Al Ahly captain Mohamed El Shenawy played a key role behind the scenes. He reportedly encouraged Ashour to send a message of peace and lobbied Hossam Hassan to consider Ashour’s return.
Hossam had demanded an apology after Ashour missed a national team camp citing injury, only to feature days later for Al Ahly. Since then, Ashour, who has 18 caps for Egypt, hasn’t been called up.
