Former Zamalek president Mamdouh Abbas has slammed what he sees as a shady move by some creditors seeking to turn their loans into ownership stakes in the club’s football company.

In a post on X, Abbas said he was stunned by those “sending signals” about swapping debt for shares, questioning if it was “opportunism or blackmail.”

The bold remarks come just days before Zamalek’s Egyptian Cup final clash with Pyramids. Abbas warned that some might try to use the high-stakes match as a tool for pressure, but insisted such efforts would fail.

Quoting an Egyptian proverb, Abbas said, “We will keep you on Shouna,” warning those trying to exploit the occasion.

He underlined the importance of the match, stating that for Zamalek, “the cup comes first,” and urged the players to focus fully.

He ended by placing trust in key players like Shikabala, Omar Gaber, Ahmed Fattouh, and Abdullah El Said, stating, “I don’t have any more words.”
