German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are in talks to sign Jonathan Burkardt of 1. FSV Mainz 05 as a potential replacement for France forward of Cameroonian descent, Eintracht Frankfurt.
Burkardt scored 18 goals in 29 matches in the 2024/25 league season and finished the campaign as the fourth-highest top scorer.
According to information gathered from sources, Eintracht Frankfurt is working hard to reach a full verbal agreement with Jonathan Burkardt.
It is understood that Frankfurt and Mainz have been in contact for weeks. The Eagles want the 24-year-old to replace in-demand striker Hugo Ekitike if he leaves the club soon.
Hugo Ekitike put up an impressive performance for Frankfurt last season, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists after making 33 appearances.
After his impressive campaign, Hugo Ekitike is now a transfer target of several top European clubs, including Chelsea.
Frankfurt are aware of the interest and are already preparing for his exit.
