Zamalek SC’s treasurer, Hossam El Mendouh, has announced that the club will hold off on contract renewal talks with veteran midfielder Abdullah El Said until after their crucial Egyptian Cup final against Pyramids FC on June 5.

The 38-year-old playmaker is nearing the end of his contract, which expires at the close of the season. El Said is now eligible to negotiate with other clubs as a free agent. Despite his importance to the squad, Zamalek’s leadership wants all attention locked on the upcoming final.

“There is no issue with Abdullah,” El Mendouh explained on television. “He’s a key player, but we’re delaying the renewal discussions to ensure full focus on the Cup final.”

Regarding defender Hossam Abdel-Meguid, whose deal runs until 2027, El Mendouh confirmed the player has attracted interest from clubs abroad.

“Abdel-Meguid is one of our pillars and staying,” he said. “But if an official offer arrives that serves both the player and club, we won’t stand in his way.”

The board, led by Hussein Labib, remains firm on keeping distractions minimal before the final.
