Zamalek coach Jose Peseiro facing uncertainty over his position

Jose Riveiro is wasting no time putting his stamp on Al Ahly as he steps into the head coach role ahead of Thursday’s first training session.

The Spanish tactician, who signed a two-season deal, has already mapped out his initial backroom staff as he readies for the upcoming Club World Cup.

According to Kooora, Riveiro’s technical team will feature four foreign additions: Sergio Almenara, set to be the first to arrive, Carlos Nodar, a foreign performance analyst, and a foreign goalkeeping coach. Local analysts Ayman Mohamed and Saeed El Nahas will continue in their roles.

Mohamed Shawky remains general manager, working closely with Riveiro. Meanwhile, Emad El Nahhas is tipped for a strategic role, either leading the youth sector or as director of football.

The team will train under Riveiro on Thursday before heading to the U.S. for the global tournament set for 14 June to 13 July.

Al Ahly’s choice reflects their desire for a more dynamic, attacking identity—something Riveiro is known for, unlike his more cautious predecessor Marcel Koller.
