Ahmed Diab, president of the Professional Clubs Association, has ruled out any suspension of football activities in Egypt, stating clearly that league decisions remain within legal bounds and follow the regulations.
Diab responded to growing concerns over recent summit match sanctions by affirming that no move to pause the league is being considered. He emphasized that penalties such as point deductions comply with the league’s rulebook.
Speaking after a key meeting of the association, Diab revealed that while the idea to scrap relegation is still being discussed, no final decision has been made. He noted that only 15 out of 18 clubs attended the talks, with big names like Zamalek and Pyramids absent.
Diab explained the relegation debate was sparked by fear of losing historic clubs and highlighted differing opinions on the issue. He also pointed to pending legal reforms that could boost club investment and allow mergers like that of Ceramica Cleopatra and Suez.
Addressing officiating concerns, Diab admitted issues exist and confirmed that foreign experts are being brought in to fix the system.
