The Egyptian Football Federation has reportedly addressed Pyramids FC’s request to postpone their upcoming domestic fixture, citing their upcoming CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Pyramids and Sundowns are preparing for their historic showdown, with the first leg scheduled for May 24 in South Africa, followed by the second leg in Cairo on June 1.
Currently leading the Egyptian Premier League, Pyramids are due to face Ceramica Cleopatra on May 28.
However, the club has expressed concerns that the timing of this match could clash with their Champions League final preparations.
In response, Pyramids Sporting Director Hani Said confirmed the club’s plans to formally request a postponement.
“We will request a postponement of the Ceramica match due to its close timing with the CAF Champions League final,” said Said, according to On Sport FM Radio.
“It doesn’t make sense for us to play with such intensity while preparing for the most important match in the club’s history.”
Despite these concerns, the Egyptian Football Federation has stated that no official request from Pyramids has been received regarding the postponement of the Ceramica match.
A source informed Kora Plus, “We have not received an official request from Pyramids FC yet to postpone their match against Ceramica Cleopatra in the Nile League.”
