AS FAR coach, Alexandre Santos, has set his sights on the runners-up spot in the Moroccan topflight despite losing to Wydad Casablanca on Saturday.
FAR suffered a 2-1 defeat against Wydad in the Matchday 28 games at the Stade Mohammed V.
Speaking to Kooora after the game, the Portuguese gaffer said his side did not deserve to lose considering the players’ performance, but he reassured the club’s fans that the fate of the second-place finish was in their hands.
“Our frustration with the result of the match will not prevent us from fighting to avoid losing the runner-up spot. Our destiny is in the hands of our players, and we are the ones who control the situation because winning the last two matches or even a draw in one match gives us this privilege.
“We had a good streak in the previous period that ended in El Clasico, but we are not allowed to back down now. The goal is runner-up, and as long as we have the right to self-determination, we will not give up and we will do the impossible to achieve what the fans aspire to.”
The clash showcased fierce competition and strengthened Wydad’s position in the Moroccan league, raising their tally to 48 points, just 3 points behind runners-up FAR Rabat.
