Supporters’ associations from three of Morocco’s biggest football clubs — Wydad, Raja, and AS FAR — have reached a landmark reconciliation agreement, marking a significant step toward ending years of rivalry-fueled tension.
The truce, announced following recent forums held in Casablanca and Rabat, is the outcome of intense dialogue aimed at fostering unity and curbing hooliganism.
The fan groups emphasised their collective support for new legislation targeting stadium violence, as well as an early public awareness campaign to ensure the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), hosted by Morocco later this year, is a success.
In a joint declaration, the associations committed to putting an end to provocations and hostility, pledging instead to usher in a new era of cooperation and mutual respect.
The agreement also paves the way for the long-awaited return of full fan attendance at high-profile matches such as derbies and clásicos.
In recent years, these fixtures have often taken place in near-empty stadiums or with restricted attendance due to safety concerns.
The three groups urged supporters of other Moroccan clubs to adopt similar initiatives, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility in restoring a safe and spirited football atmosphere across the country.
This reconciliation comes against the backdrop of past incidents that led authorities to ban fans from traveling to away games, following violent clashes in stadiums nationwide.
