Chelsea willing to listen to offers for injury-prone Belgian-Ghanaian Romeo Lavia

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to sanction the sale of midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer if they receive a suitable offer.

Lavia, who is of Ghanaian descent but represents Belgium internationally, joined the Blues from Southampton ahead of the 2023/24 season but has struggled with injuries throughout his time at Stamford Bridge.

Despite arriving with promise and potential, the 21-year-old has made just one competitive appearance due to persistent fitness setbacks.

The West London club are now said to be open to letting Lavia leave if an offer in the region of £40 million or more arrives.

Although Chelsea initially invested close to £58 million to secure his services, the club’s willingness to consider bids marks a shift in their plans amid efforts to reshape the squad under sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.

Lavia first moved to England as a teenager when he joined Manchester City from Anderlecht, but it was at Southampton that he made his Premier League breakthrough, impressing during the 2022/23 campaign.

That form attracted interest from several top-flight clubs before Chelsea eventually won the race for his signature.

His stint at Stamford Bridge, however, has been defined by injury frustration.

A series of muscular problems has prevented him from finding rhythm or form, and Chelsea are now believed to be reassessing his long-term value to the squad.

The club continues to evaluate its midfield depth, and Lavia’s situation is part of a wider strategic review aimed at reducing the number of injury-prone players.

While his talent remains undoubted, there is concern that his physical setbacks could persist, limiting his contribution over a demanding campaign.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Chelsea’s openness to offers could invite interest from Premier League and European clubs alike, particularly those willing to take a calculated gamble on the midfielder’s potential.
