Bayern Munich are pushing to secure the signing of Germany international of Ivory Coast descent Jonathan Tah as the summer transfer window approaches.
Tah is leaving Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season as his current contract runs out in June this year. The 29-year-old centre-back will join any club of his choice as a free agent at the expiration of his contract this summer.
Barcelona had been the frontrunner for the acquisition of the enterprising defender, but negotiations between both parties has reportedly stalled.
However, the German giants is now looking to take advantage of the situation to sign Tah, who has been on their radar as far back as last summer, but the defender has other options for his next destination as well.
Tah was instrumental when Bayer Leverkusen secured the Bundesliga title last season. This season, the defender has made 30 appearances in the top-flight for his outfit, scoring two goals and delivering an assist.
The imminent departure of the highly-profiled defender comes as a huge blow to Leverkusen, who are keen to maintain momentum in Germany after recent successes.
