Coach of Tanzania’s U20 national team, Mohammed Mrisho has stressed that his team is not looking to just participate at the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
According to him, although Tanzania will face off with powerhouses in Group A, players are ready to give their all to ensure progression to the knockout stage.
“Honestly, this is a very, very difficult group. We respect every opponent — Egypt, South Africa, Zambia, Sierra Leone — all strong teams. But we’ve prepared our players to fight, to give everything, and to stay focused. We’re not here to just participate. We want to progress. It will take hard work, but we believe in our ability,” Coach Mohammed Mrisho told CAFOnline.
Tanzania’s U20 national team will kick off their campaign at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday, April 30, when they take on South Africa at 15:00 GMT.
In the other Group A game that will be played on Wednesday, Sierra Leone will come up against host Egypt at 18:00 GMT.
