The Egyptian Football Federation are considering a new date for the Cup final between Zamalek and Pyramids FC, Africasoccer.com can report.
Originally, the much-anticipated clash between Zamalek and Pyramids had been scheduled for May 20. However, the match is unlikely to be played on its original date due to the Pyramids FC tight schedules.
According to reports in Egypt, discussions are ongoing to move the match from May to either June 5 or 6.
The potential shift of the match bounds down to Pyramids FC’s first ever qualification to the CAF Champions League final, a historic milestone for the club.
Following their dramatic semi-final win over Orlando Pirates, where Fiston Mayele starred, Pyramids FC will now meet South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in a two-legged final.
The first leg of the CAF Champions League has been scheduled for May 24, with the return encounter set for June 1, 2025.
This congested calendar complicates the team’s preparation for the Egypt Cup final and the ongoing domestic league.
Given the circumstances, the Egyptian Football Federation aims to support Krunoslav Jurcic’s squad by allowing them to fully focus on their continental mission before facing Zamalek.
