Leroy Sane has made a big decision about his future, and it doesn’t involve a move to Saudi Arabia.
The Bayern Munich winger has reportedly rejected a staggering €100 million offer to stay put with the Bundesliga champions.
Sane, 29, is in the final stretch of his current contract, which runs out at the end of this season. Talks between the player and Bayern are ongoing, with both sides close to sealing a new deal that could keep him at the club until 2028.
Sky Sports Germany reports that Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad tried to lure Sane with a massive four-year contract worth €100 million (£85m/$113m). But the German star is set to remain in Munich, choosing stability over a big payday.
Negotiations are progressing well, and Sane is expected to accept a pay cut from his current €10 million per season salary. Performance bonuses could still push his earnings to between €14 million and €16 million.
Sane joined Bayern in July 2020 on a five-year deal worth an initial €45 million, potentially rising to €60 million with add-ons. He made an instant impact, scoring in an 8–0 Bundesliga victory over former club Schalke 04. A few months later, he netted his first Champions League goal for Bayern in a 6–2 win against Red Bull Salzburg.
This season, Sane has made a strong impact, featuring in 27 Bundesliga matches, scoring ten goals, and providing four assists.
