President of the Federação Moçambicana de Futebol, Feizal Sidat, has been appointed 5th Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the 2025–2029 cycle.
His appointment was confirmed by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe following the Executive Committee (EXCO) meeting held in Accra, Ghana, on Saturday.
Sidat, a veteran football administrator, has long been a key figure in the development of football in Mozambique and the wider Southern African region.
A former futsal goalkeeper, he has steadily climbed the ranks of football governance, serving on the COSAFA Executive Committee and chairing its Marketing, Television and Commercial Committee.
Earlier this year, Sidat was elected to the CAF Executive Committee, and his new vice-presidential role positions him among the top leadership within African football.
His appointment is seen as recognition of his extensive contributions to the sport, particularly in expanding the reach and quality of football development programs.
Under Sidat’s leadership, Mozambique’s football sector has experienced notable progress, with achievements in areas such as women’s football, beach soccer, and youth competitions.
The men’s national team recently qualified for consecutive editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, while the women’s team secured a historic third-place finish at the 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe praised Sidat’s efforts, highlighting his role in advancing African football beyond national borders.
Sidat’s experience and strategic insight are expected to enhance CAF’s mission to strengthen football development across the continent over the next four years.
Sidat joins a diverse leadership group under Motsepe, alongside other vice presidents: Fouzi Lekjaa of Morocco, Kurt Simeon-Okraku of Ghana, Pierre-Alain Mounguengui of Gabon, and Bestine Kazadi of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
