Cherki Fuels Algeria speculation with cryptic response amid national team uncertainty

France-born attacker of Algerian descent, Rayan Cherki, could leave Olympique Lyon for a fee lower than 35 million Euros in the summer transfer window.

Cherki, 21, has been in sensational form for Lyon in the ongoing 2024/25 football season. Not only has he impressed with his performances in the French Ligue 1, but he also starred in the Europa League before the team’s exit at the quarter-final stage.

Despite possessing an Estimated Transfer Value of €37.5 million, Lyon are expected to accept offers below €35 million.

Sources have revealed that the club could even accept a fee of € 20 million due to mounting pressure to stabilise their finances. The French club is also under threat of relegation if they fail to resolve their off-field financial issues, making a summer sale almost inevitable.

Although Rayan Cherki remains focused on helping Lyon in their remaining games of the season, his departure in the summer transfer window is more and more becoming increasingly likely.

The clubs leading the race for his signature include English Premier League duo Manchester United and Manchester City.
