‘Rayan Cherki is one of the best in Europe’ – Former Lyon manager Pierre Sage praises Algerian midfielder

Former manager of Olympique Lyon, Pierre Sage, has heaped praise on French-Algerian midfielder Rayan Cherki, insisting that he is one of the best players in Europe this season.

Cherki, 21, has been in sensational form for Lyon in not just the French Ligue 1 but in the Europa League as well.

As a result of his impressive performances, Cherki is a transfer target of several clubs, including Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking on the youngster in an interview with The Athletic, Pierre Sage, said he is convinced Rayan Cherki is one of the best in Europe in the ongoing season.

The former Lyon manager described the attacking midfielder as special and has backed him to become even better in the coming years.

“We see the player he is now. I’m happy because every player can be at their best for three games, but Rayan is one of the best in every statistic in Europe. He has something really special,” Pierre Sage said.
