Former Ghana international John Paintsil has asserted that AFC Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo is worth considerably more than the €40 million figure often discussed in the transfer market.
Semenyo’s performances this season have firmly established him as one of the most promising strikers in the Premier League.
Semenyo, 25, has enjoyed a stellar campaign, netting nine goals and providing five assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.
His impressive form has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham, as he continues to shine for both Bournemouth and the Ghana national team.
According to Paintsil, Semenyo’s value should not be limited to the €40 million that has been circulating in media reports.
Semenyo has proven himself to be one of the Premier League’s most consistent forwards this season,” Paintsil remarked. “His performances have been key for both Bournemouth and Ghana. For me, this price tag is even disrespectful to the club. Given his contract length and his growing stature, Bournemouth should not consider any offer below €60 million, and that would be the minimum.”
The forward’s current contract, which secures him to Bournemouth for the long term, has only added to his market value, with Paintsil citing it as a crucial factor in determining a fair transfer fee.
“Look at his contract—it’s long-term, and in today’s inflated market, it would be foolish for Bournemouth to let him go for anything less than a substantial fee,” the former defender said.
Semenyo’s rise to prominence has been swift, especially considering his development from last season, when he scored eight goals and provided three assists in 36 appearances.
His most notable performances this season include goals against some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City, which have further cemented his value.
Having joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023 for €12 million, Semenyo has quickly become one of the key figures in Andoni Iraola’s squad. His market value has soared, making him a highly sought-after player in the transfer market.
With the summer transfer window on the horizon, the future of Semenyo is expected to dominate headlines, as top clubs look to secure his services.
However, as Paintsil and others have pointed out, any potential suitor will need to meet Bournemouth’s hefty asking price if they are to acquire the forward’s services.
As Bournemouth prepares for their upcoming Premier League clash against Fulham, Semenyo’s form remains one of the key talking points.
Whether or not the striker remains at Bournemouth beyond this season will depend largely on the offers that come in—and, crucially, whether they meet the valuation set by the club.
