Esperance Sportive de Tunis is pushing back against the Tunisian Professional League’s punishment of their Algerian star, Youssef Belaili, aiming to clear his path for a crucial showdown.
The Tunisian Professional League (TPL) decided on Friday to suspend Algerian Youssef Belaili, Esperance’s star, for two matches and fine him 5,000 dinars.
This decision comes after Belaili made an inappropriate gesture after scoring against JS Omrane in the Tunisian First Division. Tunisian radio station Diwan reported that Esperance’s legal committee has prepared its appeal against the penalty imposed on Belaili.
Esperance is seeking to resolve Belaili’s situation as soon as possible to ensure his participation in the classic match against Club Africain, the top match of the Tunisian League. Youssef Belaili will miss Esperance’s next two matches against Gafsa Caravans and Club Africain.
Esperance occupies the top spot in the league table, alongside Monastir Union, with 53 points each, and the club is desperate to have their talisman back for the title fight.
