Al Ahly’s management team has finalized a deal to keep goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy in their ranks, with an official announcement slated for after Saturday’s showdown with Pyramids FC in the Egyptian Premier League play-off’s second round.
The decision comes as a boost for the squad, locking in their star shot-stopper ahead of a crucial match. An insider close to the club spilled the details to Kooora, revealing that sporting director Mohamed Ramadan hammered out the agreement, tying El-Shenawy to Al Ahly for two more seasons, plus an option for a third.
“El-Shenawy’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and a final agreement has been reached regarding the renewal. The contracts will be signed after the Pyramids FC match,” the insider said.
Meanwhile, the club isn’t resting easy talks are heating up with defenders Yasser Ibrahim, Rami Rabia, and young talent Hamza Alaa, whose deals also run out this season. For Al Ahly, securing their core feels like the real victory.
