Amine Gouiri’s modest salary at Marseille raises eyebrows

Algerian forward Amine Gouiri secures Team of the Week spot after hat-trick heroics for Marseille

Amine Gouiri’s salary at Olympique de Marseille has drawn attention after figures revealed by L’Équipe placed him among the club’s lowest earners despite his growing influence in the squad.

The Algerian international, who joined from Stade Rennais in January, earns €270,000 per month, ranking just tenth among Marseille’s highest-paid players.

While several of his teammates earn significantly more, Gouiri has quickly become a key figure in Roberto De Zerbi’s attack.

His decision to join Marseille was driven more by the club’s sporting ambition rather than financial incentives, as he sought a new challenge at a club known for its passionate fanbase and high expectations.

Since his arrival, the 24-year-old forward has delivered impressive performances, registering four goals and three assists in Ligue 1.

His developing chemistry with teammates such as Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Mason Greenwood has further strengthened Marseille’s attacking options as they push for Champions League qualification.

Salary Disparity at Marseille

Despite his contributions, Gouiri’s earnings remain well below those of some of his teammates. Midfielder Højbjerg takes home €500,000 per month, while Ismaël Bennacer earns €450,000 and Leonardo Balerdi collects €350,000.

Given his growing importance to the squad, speculation is already mounting that the club could offer him an improved contract in the near future.

For now, Gouiri appears content at Marseille, thriving under De Zerbi’s system and enjoying the passionate support of the Stade Vélodrome faithful.

If he continues to deliver on the pitch, his current “modest” salary may not remain unchanged for long.
