English football giants Manchester United are reportedly considering the sale of goalkeeper Andre Onana during the upcoming summer transfer window, amid interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
According to The Sun, manager Ruben Amorim is open to the Cameroonian international’s departure, provided that the Saudi clubs formalize their interest.
Onana, who joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in July 2023 on a contract extending until June 2028, has encountered challenges in maintaining consistent form since Amorim’s appointment.
His performances have been scrutinized, with notable errors impacting the team’s defensive stability. These inconsistencies have led to discussions within the club regarding the potential for a younger replacement should Onana exit.
In light of this situation, Manchester United have initiated the search for potential successors. Reports suggest that the club is monitoring several young goalkeepers across Europe.
Among the names linked are Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens and Lille’s Lucas Chevalier. Lammens, valued at approximately £30 million, has impressed with his recent performances and ball-handling skills, aligning with the modern goalkeeper profile. Similarly, Chevalier, with an estimated valuation of £40 million, has attracted attention for his consistent displays in Ligue 1.
The potential departure of Onana reflects a broader strategy under Amorim to rejuvenate the squad with emerging talents.
This approach aims to build a team capable of competing at the highest levels domestically and in European competitions.
