AC Milan have rekindled their interest in Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika, with discussions underway with Club Brugge over a potential summer transfer.
The Italian giants, seven-time UEFA Champions League winners, had previously pursued the 23-year-old last year but were unable to meet the Belgian club’s €24 million valuation.
According to sources close to the negotiations, AC Milan remain determined to secure Onyedika’s signature, with technical director Geoffrey Machado reportedly a strong admirer of the player.
The Rossoneri have submitted an initial bid of €18 million, but Club Brugge are expected to reject the offer, holding firm on their valuation of the midfielder.
Onyedika, who has two years remaining on his contract with the Belgian side, is open to a move to Milan. A representative from his agency, CAA Stellar, confirmed the Italian club’s renewed approach, stating:
“He is high on AC Milan’s shortlist, and they have formally expressed their interest in both the player and his team.
The first offer of €18 million is likely to be turned down, as Brugge consider him to be worth significantly more. Raphael is keen on the transfer, but an agreement between the clubs will be decisive.”
Aside from AC Milan, Onyedika has also attracted attention from Paris Saint-Germain, FC Porto, and Bayern Munich, with all three clubs reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer window.
Onyedika’s Career and International Profile
Onyedika made the switch to Club Brugge in 2022 from Danish outfit Midtjylland, where he had initially gained prominence.
Since joining the Belgian club, he has made 139 appearances, contributing six goals and four assists while establishing himself as a key figure in midfield.
He also previously played for Fredericia in Denmark.
On the international stage, the Nigerian midfielder earned his debut for the Super Eagles in 2022 and has since won 12 caps for the national team.
He is currently part of Nigeria’s squad preparing for their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
With AC Milan eager to strengthen their midfield options, negotiations are expected to continue in the coming weeks as the Italian club seeks to reach an agreement with Club Brugge.
