Newcastle United are preparing for the potential departure of Alexander Isak, with reports suggesting the Swedish striker could leave in the summer.
The club has identified three possible replacements as interest from top European sides, including Liverpool, grows.
Isak, who has Eritrean heritage, has been one of the most prolific forwards this season, scoring 22 goals and providing five assists in 31 appearances.
His performances have made him a key target for Liverpool, who are looking to strengthen their attacking options under incoming manager Arne Slot.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Liverpool admire Isak and would sign him if the opportunity arises.
However, Newcastle have no intention of selling their star player and are reluctant to entertain discussions about his future.
Despite this, Newcastle are preparing for all scenarios and have shortlisted three potential replacements. As reported by the Daily Mail, Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, Lille’s Jonathan David, and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko are being monitored.
Delap, who joined Ipswich from Manchester City, has impressed in the Premier League with 10 goals despite his club’s struggles.
If Ipswich are relegated, he could be available for a lower fee. Meanwhile, David has scored 21 goals in 38 games for Lille, while Sesko has netted 17 times for Leipzig, making them attractive options.
Newcastle’s priority remains keeping Isak, but with Liverpool offering a stronger chance at silverware and Arsenal also interested, it could be difficult to hold onto him.
Arsenal, who have struggled with injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, are also in need of a clinical striker and could make a move.
