L’Equipe hands Salah harsh 3/10 rating after quiet display against PSG; describes him as “English Heist”
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah received harsh criticism from French newspaper L’Equipe after his disappointing performance in the club’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.
Despite Liverpool securing an impressive win in the French capital, Salah struggled to make an impact.
L’Equipe, known for its strict player ratings, awarded the Egyptian a 3/10 for his performance. He managed just 41 touches, failed with two crosses, lost all eight of his duels, and surrendered possession 16 times.
In the Premier League, the Egyptian has 25 goals and 17 assists, but in the Champions League, he has just three goals and four assists.
Liverpool, who currently lead the Premier League by a wide margin, relied on goalkeeper Alisson Becker and substitute Harvey Elliott to secure the victory.
Alisson delivered a standout performance, while Elliott scored the winning goal just 60 seconds after replacing Salah.
L’Equipe described the match as an “English Heist” due to Liverpool’s ability to win despite being under heavy pressure from PSG.
While Salah struggled, Alisson received high praise and was awarded a rare 9/10 rating for his crucial saves throughout the game.
After the match, Alisson expressed his pride in his performance and the team’s resilience.
“It was the best performance of my life I think,’ he told TNT Sports. ‘(Slot) was telling us how hard it would be and we had to be ready to suffer.
“You know what is coming with the clips but we work hard, we gave away so many chances.
“Some 1v1s but the biggest part is having someone to make the player who is having the chance to think more so it makes my job easier. All the effort the team puts in, it is unbelievable.”
