DR Congo international Dylan Batubinsika has officially lodged complaint after being assaulted in France at the weekend.
Batubinsika was by a supporter during a French Ligue clash between Saint Etienne and OGC Nice. He started and lasted 71 minutes for Saint Etienne as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old DR Congo international was physically assaulted following his side’s defeat in the top-flight last Saturday.
Saint Etienne have struggled this season and could return to the lower-tier league in France at the end of the season following their dismal form.
However, an aggrieved fan reportedly stormed the car park and attacked the DR Congo international.
The fan initially approached Batubinsika for an autograph, but instead punched him in the face after he lowered the glass of his car to respond to the supporter.
The supporter reportedly had a beer in hand and was clearly intoxicated. Yet, with police nearby, the assailant managed to run away. As of earlier this week, the identity of the aggressor had still not been determined despite the presence of CCTV cameras.
Saint Etienne currently sit second-bottom in Ligue 1 with 19 points ahead of two do-or-die fixtures against Le Havre next Sunday, and Montpellier the following weekend.
The DR Congo international has made 24 appearances across competitions for the French outfit.
