Raja defender Abdallah Khafifi is set to replace Morocco captain Romain Saiss in Morocco’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying games.
Saiss has successfully undergone surgery after sustaining a nasty ankle injury. He is expected to be out for months due to injury.
The former Wolves defender is now expected to miss their qualifiers against Niger and Tanzania.
As a result, the head coach for the Atlas Lions, Walid Regragui, is set to name Khafifi as Saiss’ replacement in the squad.
The Lions will host Niger in Oujda on March 21 at 9 pm Moroccan time, and will return to play against Tanzania at the same stadium on the 25th of the same month at the same time.
