Algeria has advanced to the final round of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after completing a dominant two-legged victory in the first round.

Following a resounding 5-0 win in the first leg, the Fennecs sealed their progression with a convincing 3-0 triumph in the return fixture.

The Algerian side controlled the match from start to finish, demonstrating their superiority once again.

Ghoutia Kharchouni was the standout performer, netting twice, while Laura Taleb-Muller added a goal to complete an emphatic 8-0 aggregate victory.

Cameroon awaits in final qualifying round

With their place in the next stage secured, Algeria now faces a formidable challenge against Cameroon in the final round of qualifiers.

The Indomitable Lions, one of Africa’s most experienced teams, have a strong history in women’s football and will present a tough test for the Algerian squad.

The upcoming clash will determine which team earns a spot in the 2026 Women’s AFCON, set to take place in Morocco.

With both nations eager to book their place in the tournament, the encounter promises to be a high-stakes battle between two ambitious sides.

As Algeria prepares for this decisive matchup, their impressive performances in the qualifiers so far will serve as a confidence boost. However, they will need to be at their best to overcome a Cameroonian team known for its pedigree on the continental stage.
