Ibrahima Niane has openly expressed his desire to don the Senegalese national team jersey, highlighting his commitment to earning a place among the Lions of Teranga.

The Angers SCO striker, who has been making strides in Ligue 1, shared his ambitions during an exclusive interview with Senego, underscoring his determination to represent his country on the international stage.

The former FC Metz forward, known for his pace and clinical finishing, emphasized that playing for Senegal remains a lifelong dream.

Despite fierce competition within the national squad, Niane remains optimistic, focusing on hard work and consistency as the keys to achieving his goal.

“I’ve always dreamed of wearing the national team jersey,” Niane stated. “I know the competition is tough, but I am working every day with that goal in mind. Representing Senegal would be an absolute honor.”

With the Senegalese national team currently on the lookout for emerging talents, head coach Aliou Cissé has embarked on a European tour to scout potential players ahead of upcoming international fixtures.

Although Niane has yet to hold direct talks with Cissé, he expressed support for the coach’s proactive approach in expanding the national team’s player pool.

“I haven’t spoken with the coach yet, but I really appreciate what he’s doing,” Niane said. “It shows he’s committed to finding the best talents, and I’m hopeful that my time will come.”

Niane also revealed a brief encounter with Senegal U-20 coach Pape Thiaw during a recent Ligue 1 fixture against Monaco.

While the meeting was informal, it served as a motivating reminder that national team selectors are keeping a close eye on performances across Europe.

Currently enjoying a solid season with Angers SCO, Niane remains focused on delivering consistent results at the club level.

He credits the trust placed in him by the coaching staff for helping him find his rhythm, contributing both goals and assists in Angers’ Ligue 1 campaign.

“I’m happy with how things are going at Angers,” Niane said. “The coaching staff trusts me, and that gives me the confidence to perform on the pitch. My priority is to keep helping my club succeed while continuing to improve personally.”

Niane acknowledges that his path to the national team hinges on his performances in Ligue 1, where competition among forwards remains intense. However, his dedication and current form make a strong case for future consideration.

For the 24-year-old, the journey toward his international debut is as much about patience as it is about performance.

With Senegal boasting a wealth of attacking options, including established stars and rising talents, breaking into the squad is no easy feat. Yet, Niane remains undeterred.

“Every player dreams of representing their country, and I’m no different,” he concluded.

“I’ll continue to work hard, stay focused, and when the opportunity comes, I’ll be ready.”

As the national team continues its scouting efforts and the season progresses, Ibrahima Niane’s name is one that could soon be called upon, especially if he maintains his strong form for Angers.

For now, the striker remains driven by ambition and fueled by the dream of wearing Senegal’s iconic green jersey.
