Egyptian outfit Al Masry have parted ways with coach Ali Maher as a result of the team’s unimpressive results.
The Port Said-based club has been poor in their last three matches, drawing two and losing one across the period.
Al Masry played out a 0-0 draw against National Bank before succumbing to a narrow defeat to Ghazl Al Mahalla, followed by a 0-0 draw against Ismaily on Saturday.
However, the former Egyptian forward has been fired due to the club’s underwhelming performance in the top-flight.
Maher, who joined Al Masry in July 2023 leaves the club after almost one-year spell with the Port Said side.
The decision to part ways with Maher comes at a critical time, with five weeks remaining for their crunch CAF Confederation Cup match against Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
Al Masry will have to appoint a new coach before their all-important clash against Simba SC.
The Egyptian outfit will play host to Simba SC on April 3, 2025 before the return fixture in Tanzania.
The club is currently fifth on the league standing with 24 points after 15 matches into the Egyptian Premier League campaign.
Maher’s coaching career spans several teams, including Al Masry, Modern, and ENPPI. He has also managed teams in various competitions, such as the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
