Mohamed Salah believes Liverpool will need a “moment of magic” to overcome Manchester City when the two sides meet at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in a highly anticipated Premier League showdown.
Liverpool travel to Manchester as league leaders, holding an eight-point advantage at the top of the table. Meanwhile, City, the defending champions, are looking to bounce back after their recent disappointment in Europe.
Pep Guardiola’s side was eliminated from the Champions League following a 6-3 aggregate defeat to Real Madrid, with Kylian Mbappe scoring a hat-trick in the second leg.
Salah aware of the challenge
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Salah acknowledged the difficulty of facing City away from home but remained optimistic about his side’s chances.
“It will be difficult. We play Man City away, so they will always be favourites at home, but we will take our chances,” he said.
Despite City’s struggles in Europe, the Egyptian forward insists they remain a formidable force under Guardiola.
“City are still City. They have one of the greatest managers of all time and great players.
They have been playing at the highest level for years and have won everything at club level. They will always be a strong team and can win at any time.”
Staying focused
With both teams vying for crucial points, Salah emphasized the importance of composure and clinical finishing in such a high-stakes encounter.
“I think the game will be very tough. They have the advantage of playing at home and have experienced players.
We have to stay calm and take our chances,” he added.
As the title race intensifies, Liverpool will be looking to extend their lead, while City aim to close the gap and keep their hopes of retaining the Premier League crown alive.
With two of England’s top sides going head-to-head, the match promises to be a thrilling contest.
