Former Bayern Munich defender Markus Babbel has hailed Jamal Musiala as a player fans go to the stadium to watch.
In an interview with Tribal Football, Babbel praised Musiala as the new face of Bayern Munich, describing him as a player who excites fans and embodies the future of the Bundesliga.
“He is the kind of player supporters go to the stadium to watch. They want to see him,” Babbel said, highlighting Musiala’s growing influence at the club.
The 21-year-old, who was born in Germany to a Nigerian-British father, has already established himself as one of Europe’s most dynamic attacking midfielders.
This season, he has been in scintillating form, contributing 15 goals and 8 assists across all competitions for Bayern Munich.
Babbel also drew comparisons between Musiala and Bayern legend Thomas Müller, who, at 35, is nearing the end of his illustrious career.
“There’s still Thomas Müller, who is the legend in the team, but Musiala is the new face, especially for the supporters,” Babbel noted.
Musiala’s recent contract extension, which ties him to Bayern until 2030, has been met with widespread approval.
“They always love players who came from the academy. He has skills that’s not normal for the Bundesliga and that’s the reason why we are happy he signed a new contract”
