Victor Osimhen’s market value crashes to four-year low despite flying start at Galatasaray
Victor Osimhen has suffered another significant drop in his market value, with the Nigeria striker now valued at €65 million in the latest Transfermarkt update.
The latest revision represents a €10 million decrease from his previous €75 million valuation and takes the Galatasaray forward to his lowest estimated value in four years.
Osimhen’s latest decline comes despite an impressive start to the 2026-27 season, in which he has scored six goals and provided two assists in just four league appearances for Galatasaray.
The Nigerian’s €65 million valuation matches the figure he last carried in June 2022, when he was 23 and had only recently established himself as one of Europe’s leading strikers following his move from Lille to Napoli.
The fall is particularly striking given how highly Osimhen was valued during his time in Italy. His market value reached a career-high €120 million during his Napoli spell, putting him among the most valuable forwards in world football.
From €100m to €65m
Osimhen’s market value began its downward trajectory after his move to Galatasaray on loan in September 2024.
At the time, the Nigerian arrived in Turkey with a €100 million valuation, making him the most valuable player in Süper Lig history.
Transfermarkt subsequently reduced his valuation to €75 million, with his departure from one of Europe’s top five leagues cited as a significant factor behind the adjustment.
His value then dropped further to €70 million before recovering to €75 million after Galatasaray completed his permanent transfer from Napoli for €75 million in July 2025.
Transfermarkt maintained the €75 million valuation in May 2026, reflecting Osimhen’s status as an elite striker and continued interest from major European clubs.
The latest €10 million reduction, however, leaves the 27-year-old €55 million below his career peak.
Osimhen still rules Turkey’s market
Despite the sharp decline, Osimhen remains the most valuable player in the Turkish Süper Lig.
The Nigerian continues to lead a group of high-profile stars who have arrived in Turkey, with Rafael Leão valued at €50 million, Dušan Vlahović at €35 million and Mohamed Salah at €22 million.
That leaves Osimhen €15 million ahead of Leão, while his advantage over Vlahović and Salah stands at €30 million and €43 million respectively.
The gap is notable given the quality of the players now competing in Turkey, particularly after the league attracted several major names during the summer transfer window.
Leão’s arrival added another elite attacking player to the division, while Vlahović and Salah further strengthened its collection of globally recognised stars.
Yet Osimhen remains at the top of the market-value rankings despite the latest revision.
Strong form fails to prevent drop
Osimhen’s latest valuation also contrasts with his performances since the beginning of the campaign.
The Super Eagles forward has been in prolific form for Galatasaray, finding the net six times and registering two assists across only four league matches.
His form could have been expected to strengthen his estimated value, particularly after he was reportedly attracting interest from several leading European clubs during the summer.
Instead, Transfermarkt has reduced his valuation to €65 million.
Osimhen has also been unable to add to his European and international appearances in recent weeks because of an injury sustained during league action earlier in September.
He has yet to feature for Galatasaray in the Champions League this season and was also unavailable for Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
His absence has temporarily interrupted what had been a productive start to the campaign, although his scoring record in Turkey remains a strong indicator of his current form.
For a striker who once commanded a €120 million valuation, the latest reduction represents a dramatic change in market perception.
However, with Osimhen still only 27 and producing at a prolific rate when fit, his performances in the coming months could determine whether the €65 million valuation marks the bottom of his recent slide or the beginning of a further decline.
