Cameroon’s U17 national team made a dominant start to the UNIFFAC Under-17 tournament, securing a resounding 9-0 victory over the Central African Republic in the opening match on home soil.

The Indomitable Lions wasted no time asserting their superiority, with Frank Mafany opening the scoring just two minutes into the game.

The forward doubled his tally moments later, finding the net again in the fourth minute to put Cameroon firmly in control.

The early onslaught continued as Abraham Kolly extended the lead in the seventh minute, followed by Noel Doumbogo, who added a fourth in the 12th minute.

Kolly then struck again in the 19th minute, sealing his brace as the Central African side struggled to find a response.

Mafany completed his hat-trick in the 35th minute, further widening the gap, before Oscar Etoundi added to the tally in stoppage time, making it 7-0 at the break.

With victory already assured, Cameroon made several substitutions in the second half, allowing more players to gain valuable minutes.

Doumbogo netted his second of the match in the 64th minute before Merlin Yimga Nkoutah rounded off the emphatic win in the 85th minute.

The result marks a statement performance from the young Cameroonian side as they aim to make a strong impression in the tournament.
