The new head coach of Tunisia, Sami Trabelsi has vowed to resign from the role if he fails to qualify the side for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking at a press conference held at the headquarters of the Tunisian Federation, the tactician stressed that his ambition is to secure a place for the Carthage Eagles at next year’s Mundial.
“I will leave the national team if we fail to reach the 2026 World Cup. The duration of my contract with the Tunisian national team is not important to me, even if I sign a contract until 2030. Qualifying for the 2026 World Cup will determine my future with the Carthage Eagles,” Sami Trabelsi said.
In his first assignment, the Tunisian head coach will lead the country into the next round of games in the March international break.
Next month, Tunisia will play against Liberia away from home on March 17 before hosting Malawi on March 24.
In Group H, Tunisia is already leading after four games with 10 points. Winning the upcoming two games will put the North Africans in a pole position to qualify for the World Cup.
