Hoffenheim striker Gift Orban, a €9 million signing from Olympique Lyon, is showing significant progress after his January arrival.
Although his role has largely been limited to substitute appearances, head coach Christian Ilzer believes that Orban’s integration process is reaching an important phase.
Ilzer has emphasized that the limited minutes for the 21-year-old were part of a deliberate plan to help him acclimate to the team’s dynamics and playing style. The striker’s performances in recent training sessions and Bundesliga games have shown a noticeable improvement, with Orban scoring in two consecutive matches after coming off the bench.
“We are working bit by bit on his integration, but we have already got a lot further,” said Ilzer, hinting at Orban’s growing influence. If his current form continues, Orban could be a regular starter for Hoffenheim in the near future. “He can do it now, but he will be able to help us a lot more, especially in the future,” added Ilzer, ahead of Saturday’s clash with Union Berlin.
