Brentford striker Yoane Wissa can finally breathe a sigh of relief as his attacker has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.
The 36-year-old woman, who launched a horrific acid attack on the footballer and attempted to kidnap his daughter, was sentenced on Friday after a court ruling.
The shocking incident took place on July 1st, 2021, when Wissa was still playing for Lorient. The assailant, who had pretended to be pregnant and concocted a story about her child being hospitalized, tried to kidnap Wissa’s baby girl to make her tale more believable. In the course of her actions, she threw acid on the player’s face, severely injuring him and forcing him into emergency eye surgery.
The woman, who claimed to hear “inner voices” since her teenage years, was arrested two days later and initially denied the charges before later admitting to part of them. The court convicted her of attempted homicide and minor kidnapping, handing down the lengthy prison sentence.
