Somalia advanced to the next round of the U15 World Cup’s Level D after beating the Democratic Republic of the Congo 4-0 in the quarter-finals.
The result ended what had been a promising campaign for the Congolese national team, which had impressed in the earlier rounds of the competition. However, they were unable to match a Somalia side that took control of the contest and maintained its superiority throughout.
Somalia converted its spells of pressure into four goals to secure a decisive victory. Their energetic and well-organised performance allowed them to book their place in the next round in convincing fashion and continue their strong momentum in the tournament.
For the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the defeat came just short of a place in the semi-finals. Despite their elimination, the young players leave the competition with valuable international experience.
The U15 World Cup also highlighted the potential within this Congolese generation. Their performances have provided a strong foundation to build on as they prepare for future competitions.
