Kylian Mbappé credits mental shift for resurgence at Real Madrid

French-Cameroonian forward Kylian Mbappé has credited a change in mentality for his recent resurgence at Real Madrid, where he has rediscovered his scoring form after a challenging start.

The French striker has netted eight goals in his last 10 appearances across all competitions, a marked improvement that has delighted fans and silenced early critics.

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League tie with RB Salzburg, Mbappé shared that mental hurdles had initially held him back.

“It was more of a mental thing. I knew I was good physically and with the team, but I had to do more, and I knew it,” he admitted.

The 26-year-old revealed he hit a low point after missing critical penalties against Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao earlier in the season, an experience he described as “hitting the bottom.”

However, Mbappé said the setbacks fueled his determination to improve, promising to showcase his true potential.

“I didn’t come to Madrid to play badly,” Mbappé stated firmly, highlighting his commitment to excelling at one of football’s most demanding clubs.
