Borussia Dortmund has reportedly reached an agreement with Dutch side FC Utrecht for the transfer of Ivorian striker Sebastien Haller.
To finalise the move, Dortmund has recalled Haller from his loan spell at Spanish club Real Valladolid. The season-long loan has been terminated, with reports indicating that the striker bid farewell to his Valladolid teammates earlier today.
Haller’s transfer to Utrecht marks a return to familiar grounds, as he previously played for the Dutch club earlier in his career.
Utrecht, currently third in the Eredivisie with 36 points, is well-positioned to challenge for a higher spot in the league. The club is just three points behind second-placed Ajax and nine points adrift of league leaders PSV Eindhoven.
Despite interest from other clubs, including Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb, Haller appears set to make his return to Utrecht. His addition could bolster the team’s attacking options as they push for a stronger finish in the Eredivisie standings.
The deal underscores Borussia Dortmund’s strategic management of player transfers, with Haller’s move expected to benefit both the player and the Dutch club in the coming seasons.
