Rayan Cherki’s potential move to Atalanta Bergamo has ignited speculation, fueled by Italian media reports of transfer talks between the Serie A side and Olympique Lyonnais (OL).
However, reliable sources indicate that these claims may be premature.
A pivotal player for OL this season, Cherki, 21, has drawn attention from top clubs across Europe. His impressive performances and a contract expiring in 2026 make him a highly sought-after talent. Italian reports suggest Atalanta, the reigning Europa League champions, are eager to secure the French playmaker in January.
Yet, French journalist Hugo Guillemet poured cold water on these claims. Speaking on The Evening Team, he clarified, “Between Atalanta and Lyon, there is no contact. There are perhaps contacts between Cherki’s entourage and the Italian club, it’s possible.”
While no formal negotiations are underway, Cherki’s dynamic style aligns with Gian Piero Gasperini’s attacking philosophy, keeping the door open for future developments. For now, the idea of Cherki donning Atalanta’s black and blue remains an intriguing possibility rather than an imminent reality.
