Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Boakye delivered a standout performance on Saturday night, scoring twice to propel AS Saint-Étienne to a crucial 3-1 win against Stade de Reims in Ligue 1.

The match at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium was a pivotal moment for the struggling Stéphanois, who are fighting to climb away from the relegation zone.

Reims Strikes First
Reims took the lead late in the first half when Japanese international Keito Nakamura struck with precision in the 42nd minute, sending the visitors into the break with a 1-0 advantage.

Boakye’s Second-Half Brilliance
The second half saw a transformed Saint-Étienne side, led by Boakye’s remarkable display.

The 22-year-old, recently signed from Wolfsberger AC, leveled the score in the 50th minute with a perfectly placed strike.

Just seven minutes later, he struck again, putting the hosts ahead with a composed finish that electrified the home crowd.

Belgian forward Lucas Stassin sealed the victory in the 74th minute, calmly converting to make it 3-1 and secure all three points for Saint-Étienne.

A Return to Form for Boakye
After a challenging start to the season due to injuries, Boakye’s performance signals a return to his best.

With this brace, the midfielder has now recorded two goals in nine Ligue 1 appearances, demonstrating his potential to become a key player for the Greens.

A New Chapter for Saint-Étienne
The win was met with jubilation at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium, as fans celebrated what could be a turning point in the club’s season.

The victory not only lifts Saint-Étienne’s spirits but also provides hope for a resurgence as they aim to climb the Ligue 1 table.

Boakye’s heroics have not gone unnoticed, with his performance offering a glimpse of the quality Saint-Étienne will rely on in the weeks to come.

For now, the Greens can savor a much-needed triumph that highlights their determination to fight for survival.
