Ghana international Tariq Lamptey has earned plaudit from Brighton and Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler after inspiring his outfit to an important away draw against Aston Villa.
Lamptey played full throttle of the match as his outfit held Aston Villa to a 2-2 draw at the Villa Park on Monday night.
The Black Stars right-back played a pivotal by scoring a sensational goal in the dyeing embers of the game to salvage his outfit from defeat.
After the game, Hurzeler expressed delighted with Lamptey’s contribution at both ends of the much-anticipated clash.
“When he plays he always does well. I am happy that he scored but for me it’s more important how he defended and he did a great job.” He said.
The match began with Brighton taking an early lead in the 12th minute through Simon Adingra, who capitalized on a loose ball inside the box to slot home.
Aston Villa fought back and equalized in the 37th minute when Ollie Watkins converted a penalty kick.
Two minutes into the second half, Morgan Rogers scored with a beautiful finish to give Aston Villa a 2-1 lead.
The game looked destined for a Brighton victory until the 82nd minute when Tariq Lamptey stepped up with a sensational finish.
Receiving a simple square pass from Joao Pedro inside the box, Lamptey composed himself and unleashed a powerful strike into the bottom left corner, ensuring Brighton left Villa Park with a point.
With this goal, Lamptey now boasts two goals and one assist in seven Premier League appearances this season.
