As 2024 draws to a close, L’Equipe has unveiled its Africa XI of the year, showcasing some of the continent’s finest talent.
Among the standout selections are two Borussia Dortmund players: Ramy Bensebaini and Serhou Guirassy.
Bensebaini’s inclusion is a testament to his resilience. Although injuries limited his appearances early in the year, his performances for both Borussia Dortmund and the Algerian national team in the latter half of 2024 were crucial. He played an instrumental role in helping Algeria secure a spot in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Guirassy, despite missing out on Africa’s premier competition with Guinea, had an outstanding year. The striker netted six goals in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying and continued his impressive form with both VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund. His clinical finishing made him one of the most prolific forwards in 2024, earning him a deserved place in the prestigious team.
