Atalanta Bergamo have firmly stated that Ademola Lookman will not be departing the club during the upcoming January transfer window, despite growing interest from several major clubs.
Tony D’Amico, Atalanta’s director, addressed the speculation surrounding Lookman’s future, confirming that the Nigerian winger, along with other key players, will not be sold this winter.
With the January transfer window set to open in the coming days, Lookman, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, has caught the eye of several top clubs, including Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot.
However, Atalanta are determined to maintain the core of their squad as they prepare for the second half of the season.
D’Amico expressed the club’s stance on potential transfers in an interview with Sky Sport Italia, saying, “It is certain that the January transfer window is difficult for all clubs.
If there are opportunities, we will take them, but it is obvious that we will keep the entire squad we currently have.”
Lookman, 27, has been in exceptional form for Atalanta this season, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
The winger has made 20 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists.
His performance has been pivotal in Atalanta’s campaign, including their recent 1-1 draw against Lazio, in which he played a key role.
The Nigerian international, who joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig, has quickly become a crucial figure in Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
His contributions have helped Atalanta remain competitive in Serie A and in European competitions, making him a highly sought-after asset in the transfer market.
Despite the interest from Premier League clubs, Atalanta’s position is clear: they intend to keep Lookman, as well as their other top players, for the remainder of the season.
This move underscores the club’s commitment to building on their current success and maintaining a strong squad for the challenges ahead.
