Egyptian attacker Mohamed Salah scored on Thursday night as Liverpool came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over Leicester City, extending their lead at the Premier League summit to a commanding seven points.
The win marked their eighth consecutive triumph on Boxing Day, further cementing their impressive form.
The encounter was expected to be a straightforward one for the league leaders against struggling Leicester, but the Foxes had other ideas in the opening stages.
From the outset, Leicester went on the attack and surprised their hosts with an early lead. Stephy Mavididi’s powerful run down the left wing culminated in a precise pass to Jordan Ayew, who found the bottom corner with a composed finish to put Leicester 1-0 up.
Despite the setback, Liverpool responded with resilience. In the dying moments of the first half, Cody Gakpo struck to level the score, ensuring both teams went into the break with the game tied at 1-1.
The second half saw Liverpool take control. Curtis Jones scored early to give the Reds their first lead of the match, before Mohamed Salah sealed the win in the 83rd minute. Salah’s brilliant solo effort saw him glide through Leicester’s defense before powering the ball into the left side of the net, leaving goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk helpless.
With that goal, Liverpool completed their comeback, securing a 3-1 win that stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League.
