Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton in an engaging Boxing Day clash at the Etihad Stadium, as Belgian-Ghanaian winger Jérémy Doku lit up the game with a stunning assist.
City struck early in the 14th minute when Doku’s blistering pace on the left flank saw him deliver a precise pass to Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese midfielder converted with a deflected effort into the bottom-right corner, giving City the lead and marking Doku’s third Premier League assist of the season.
Despite dominating possession with 66% and registering 24 shots, City failed to capitalize on their chances. Everton found their equalizer in the 36th minute through Iliman Ndiaye. The Senegalese forward showcased sublime skill, volleying an exquisite cross from Abdoulaye Doucouré into the top-right corner.
Doku’s electrifying performance and Silva’s goal were not enough to secure three points as Everton’s resolute defense held firm. The draw leaves City with just one win in their last nine Premier League games.
Up next, City face Leicester on December 29th, while Everton celebrate a hard-fought point on the road.
