Real Madrid draft in Andriy Lunin after Courtois illness rules him out of Clasico

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been ruled out of Sunday’s Clasico against Barcelona after developing flu symptoms.

The club confirmed the late absence in a statement on its official website, saying: “Thibaut Courtois has been confirmed absent at the last moment from this evening’s Real Madrid v Barcelona match in the 10th round of La Liga because he is suffering from flu symptoms.”

Real Madrid added that goalkeeper Ilia Voloshin had been called up to the squad to replace Courtois for the match.

Courtois has played 12 matches for Real Madrid in all competitions this season, conceding 14 goals and keeping only two clean sheets.

Andriy Lunin is expected to start in goal for Real Madrid against Barcelona in Courtois’ absence.

Real Madrid sit third in the La Liga table before the Clasico with 21 points, while Barcelona lead the competition on 27 points.
