Nnamdi Collins, a 20-year-old defensive powerhouse for Eintracht Frankfurt, is rapidly gaining attention as a rising star in German football.
His stellar performances have not only solidified his role at Frankfurt but also placed him on the radar of national coach Julian Nagelsmann.
Collins isn’t shy about his ambitions. In a candid interview with Sky, he revealed his ultimate goal: donning the jersey of Germany’s senior national team.
“It would be a lie if I said anything else, because the dream of playing in the national team drives me a lot. If one day I had the opportunity to help the national team on the big stage, who would? I always dreamed of it as a child and it was always one of my goals back then,” Collins shared.
Although eligible to represent Nigeria, Collins’ heart remains set on Germany, where he has represented every youth level from U15 to U21. Most recently, in November 2024, he played two games for the U21s, contributing to a 3-0 win against Denmark and a 2-2 draw with France.
For now, Collins is focused on short-term goals. “It’s not on the Christmas wish list for next year because I want to win the next games and be at the U21 European Championships and play a good European Championship,” he explained. “These are my next steps and goals.”
The national team might still be a dream, but with his trajectory, Collins’ senior debut feels inevitable.
